WELCOME to the website of RoosterKateSpake

Who Are We:-
RoosterKateSpake was founded in October 2005. It is a co-operative dedicated to promoting creativity in the Black Country region of England across the genres of storytelling and literature, poetry, music and song. The co-op originally comprised Laurence Hipkiss who runs Roosters Studio in the Rowley hills ( www.roostersstudio.com ) from which he put out a weekly podcast show on www.blackcountrypodcasting.com; Greg Stokes who writes, performs and publishes via The Kates Hill Press in Dudley (www.kateshillpress.co.uk); and Brain Dakin (aka Billy Spakemon, www.billyspakemon.co.uk ) who works tirelessly across the region writing and performing dialect poetry.  The name RoosterKateSpake is an amalgum of their business names. Greg Stokes left the co-operative in January 2007.  It was renamed RoosterSpake shortly afterwards.

What We Do:-
RoosterKateSpake put on the Black Country Cant & Cag Nights at the Lamp Tavern in Dudley.  Ever since the Creative Co-operative put on the first Alternative Black Country Night Out in February 2005, the Lamp Tavern has become established as the premier venue of spoken word performance in the Black Country. Greg Stokes and Brian Dakin were founder members of that co-operative and were keen to continue and expand the spoken word performance tradition in Dudley.
