A Night Of Black Country Cant & Cag (the sound of the region in spake & song) MUSICIANS THE ABs
The ABs from Walsall comprise Georgie
Bailey - guitar, ukelele (Lyndon), Paulus 'the Maestro' - keyboard (Paul), and
Mac Levy - vocals (Mike). Their set ranges from blues to ballad to jazz to
Irish folk, all reworked to be ribald and highly hilarious. They have
recently produced a CD, It's the ABs. LES ADORATEURS
A Congolese group of singers unearthed by Lozz Hipkiss. They have been living in the BC for 5 years and sing gospel songs in Congolese French. The songs are very much African in flavour, the harmonies are incredible. Eat your heart out Paul Simon. Cant & Cag performances to date: 23/06/06. BEECHWOOD
Niven Smith and Chris Ashley, an
incredibly talented singing/songwriting duo who could frequently be seen at the
Lighthouse on Gorsty Hill. Now they are spreading their wings and an album
of their material will be available early in 2006. PETE BODDIS
A veteran of the midlands folk circuit,
Pete is a songwriter and performer of astounding ability in the country
style. Close your eyes and you could be in Nashville, he really is that
good! A CD of is work is available, Sad Songs, Slow Waltzes & Tall
Stories.

Highly
talented instrumentalist who combined on her debut with Lin McCloud and Adele
Tripe then went on to do a solo performance of one of her own compositions and
accompany Sue Hulse with one of her stories. COLIN BURCHILL
Colin (left) is a phenomenal songwriter
with an even more phenomenal voice. A veteran of the west midlands music scene,
his CD Poets, Painters and Clowns came out in 2002. A further CD

is a highly accomplished performer who holds her audiences spellbound. LAURENCE HIPKISS
Laurence Hipkiss, founder member and
Rooster part of RoosterKateSpake, Laurence is a musician in his own right.
He performed in a band for many years with Lin McCloud. Laurence set up the
Roosters recording studio in his back garden and in the summer of 2005 began the
weekly podcast on blackcountrypodcasting.com showcasing the creative talent of
the Black Country. Laurence sets up the sound for all the Cant & Cag
nights and joined Billy and Greg on the Xmas special to provide musical
accompaniment to the Reduced Nativity. The trio performing together will become
a feature of the shows LIN McCLOUD
Incredibly
soulful singer who also play flute, guitar and writes songs. First
appeared with RoosterKateSpake at the Shareshill gig. Was joined by Maria
Broster and Adele Tripe for her Lamp debut on women's night.
NEIL MORRIS
From
Wednesbury, Neil performed for many years across the west midlands in several
rock bands. He recently began writing acoustic songs and made his sole
debut performing them at the Tap & Spile in Walsall. He has produced a
CD of these songs Fair to Average. ALAN NEILSON
Singer/songwriter of immense talent from
Kates Hill, Dudley. His CD bear/bare came out in 2005. SOLARTONE
