DAVE HARVEY
Dave Harvey is the top spoken word
performer from the Forest of Dean. He joined us in the first of our
cultural exchanges in March 2006 and proved a great success with the Lamp
audience. He has worked for the Forestry Commission, been a miner, a free
miner, and a long distance lorry driver. He left mining in 1991 following
a back injury and with encouragement from one of his old teachers started
writing, and then performing. His book Forest Fables was published
in 2000. A CD Songs and Poems followed. ROB PERRY
Rob Perry is primarily a landscape
painter, but also a peace campaigner and internationalist. A loto f his work
reflects his native Black Country but he also travels throughout Europe.
One major expedition was to produce a series of paintings of the battlefields of
the Somme. His lively slide show presentation of that project was a first
for the Cant & Cag nights. DAVID PRICE
David Price was born in Wales and spent
his formative years in Birmingham. Since the age of 16 he has lived and
worked in the Forest of Dean. An accomplished public speaker, together
with Greg Stokes he put together the Black Country/Forest of Dean Cultural
Exchange. UNCLE DES
Des Stokes has been performing stand up
comedy spots at pubs across the Black Country for many years. His local,
and main venue, The Cross Keys on the Rowley Road has sadly been knocked down
but Des got up at Greg's 50th birthday party in April 2005 to absolutely amaze
an audience that included Lenny Henry, Dawn French and Cyrille Regis. Des
performed in the last Alternative Black Country Night Out on 30/09/05 and had
them chanting his name. His style, of monologue mixed with toilet humour
set in a byegone Black Country is not to be missed. THIS WEBSITE APPEARS
